Micromagnetic Investigation of Thickness-Dependent Skyrmion Evolution and Pinning in Fe3GeTe2

April 2026 Intermag 2026 Conference (Poster Presentation)

Abstract

Poster presentation at Intermag 2026. Micromagnetic simulations of Fe3GeTe2 with thickness steps reproduce Lorentz TEM observations and reveal how thicker regions (75 nm) stabilize dense skyrmion lattices that evolve into faceted patch domains separated by 360° domain walls during magnetization reversal. Energy density maps identify a sharp demagnetization-field gradient at step edges as the dominant domain pinning mechanism, providing a theoretical framework for engineering domain wall trajectories in vdW spintronic devices via thickness modulation.
